In 1970, Larry Montgomery attended Fort Smith Auction School in Fort Smith Arkansas. The school was operated by Col. Dale Brown, an older well established and seasoned auctioneer, who, along with several other professional auctioneers, gave basic instruction and challenges to the art of auctioneering. Larry was elected president of the class.

Upon completion of this training, Larry returned to Berryville and began his new career. Within 2 years he became the leading local auctioneer, conducting both personal property and real estate auctions. In 1992, two of Larry’s sons-in-law, Ronnie Whiteley and Shannon Chester, attended Missouri Auction School and then joined the firm. They now conduct all the personal property auctions. Larry now conducts only real estate auctions.

In 2004, Larry’s daughter Christy, along with her husband Ronnie Whiteley, joined the firm as Realtors. Ronnie is licensed to conduct both real estate and personal property auctions.

In 2008, Larry’s vision broadened when he realized there was an opportunity to serve clients in a broader way by adding internet auctions as an avenue to move some properties more quickly and efficiently.

Clients now have a choice. Property can be sold by the traditional listing method, sold by live auction or sold by internet auction.

For 37 years Larry and his associates served the area as an independent brokerage. Realizing that franchising offered a broader base for reaching the masses, Larry began searching for the best franchise available. In 2007, he joined Exit Realty, the fastest growing franchise to ever enter the real estate arena. This has proved to be a wonderful move for Larry’s associates as well as clients and customers.
